EMERGE Âé¶¹´«Ã½ PhD Fellowships
Twelve 3-year PhD student fellowships are available through the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½
Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS).
To qualify for these fellowships, prospective students must have received the distinction of Honorable Mention in their application to the National Science Foundation EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (NSF EGFP) in the last 3 years (Spring 2022 or later).
This opportunity is funded through the NSF EMERGE Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Enhancing Marine Ecosystem Research and Graduate Education in Âé¶¹´«Ã½) Program which aims to enhance graduate education and marine ecosystem research in Âé¶¹´«Ã½, and contribute to a well-prepared workforce in the marine sciences.

Fellows will collaborate with federal and state agencies to conduct impactful research in the Arctic and Subarctic, develop academic-industry partnerships, and engage with local communities.
Starting in 2026, these fellowships provide full financial support for three years, including academic and summer stipends, as well as cost-of-education allowance.
